What I don't want for Christmas & What You Shouldn't Buy Anyone, Ever.

I'm flying today. Currently, I'm sitting in a semi-quiet corner in the San Jose airport waiting for my connecting flight. My trip from Portland to San Jose was pretty uneventful. I caught up on some magazine reading and did a bit of SkyMall looking. I have to say I love the catalog. It is pure entertainment to me. It is the prime example of consumerism gone crazy. It's the place to look for a gift to give simply because you are obligated, gifts that are completely unnecessary yet oddly useful, I've decided to share a few of my favorite finds.

Embellished 1GB USB Drive

Everyone needs a little bling! I don't know about you, but after seeing this little piece of technology couture I am embarrassed by my average looking USB drive. You may want to make this classy upgrade, and it will only cost you $75.oo. What a deal.

The Sweet Machine

The SkyMall description of this little box 'o fun says that "everyone loves the claw game!". Really? I happen to think it is a money stealing jerk face that I can never succeed at. Some why in the world would I want to pay $69.95 to have one in my home? But if you just gotta have another thing to consume your time and exercise your hand/eye coordination, go for it.

Living XL Portable Chairs
These camping chairs may look typical. But, no. They are XL camping chairs making it possible for those up to 800 pounds to enjoy the great outdoors. These chairs would definitely come in handy if I gain 670 pounds and still want to keep up an active outdoor lifestyle. I mean really, I wouldn't want to let my weight get me down. And the built in cup holders for my Jamba Juice are a real plus.

King Tutankhamen's Egyptian Throne Chair

Indulge this holiday with a little bit of Egyptian history. Some may view this piece as a little over the top, but I say every room needs a little gold gaudy. Order 2 for even more class. Seriously, I would love to know how many of these sell.

And last but not least, my favorite of all favorites.

JUMPIN' JAMMERZ

Christmas PJs are not just for kids thanks to these footed pajamas! I was lured in by this product not so much because of it's nostalgic nature but mostly by it's hot marketing campaign. Check out that picture again. Those peeps are loving their Jammerz! I mean really, loads of fun is going on. I can't imagine being a model who gets that job.

I know these items are extreme examples but it sure helps to illustrate the point of ridiculousness that Christmas gift giving has come to. I did however find one good gift. Not in the SkyMall but in my Domino mags I read (a design favorite).

Chocolates for a Cause! Check 'em out here. These super rad bonbons are infused with a traditional Africa flavor and are pretty cute too! Plus, each purchase includes a Relief Beads bracelet to help support hungry women and children in Darfur!

I will be posting more about Christmas, I've got a lot to say. But until then, enjoy the holiday preparation, it will be here before we know it!

Cheers!

Oh my word. Over the top doesn't even begin to cover it.

This year is the first year I'm not freaking out about gifts. It's the first year I'm really trying to remember that Christmas is, hellooo, about Christ.

I'm sick of the hype. I do enjoy giving gifts but not at the expense of putting things on a credit card or not being able to have milk for the next month.

Our kids are each getting a small gift and everyone else we buy for is either getting something for free or under 5 bucks. Woot woot!

Thinking next year, everyone is getting a goat and/or some family cloth. I'm going to be the favoritest family member, ever!

Didn't you know the footie jammies were making a comeback?

It's a revolution...and we're starting one mailbox at a time.
